Chinese American real estate group installs 2013 leadership team

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

The Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® joined the real estate community in congratulating the Chinese American Real Estate Association (CAREA)'s 2013 leadership team at their installation dinner in March. Congressman Mike Honda installed 2013 CAREA president Dexter Lat, a Realtor with RE/MAX One Alliance, along with the association's officers and board of directors.

The 2013 officers and board directors joining Lat are immediate past president John Luk (GD Commercial); Coco Tan (Coldwell Banker) and Lillian Chiang (California Bank & Trust), vice presidents; Joyce Sun, (GD Commercial), treasurer; Regina Wang (GD Commercial), secretary; Jennifer Chen (JC Investment), public affairs director; Kenny Cen (Realtor), marketing director; Wilson Chai (Bank of America), program director; and Yuang Chang, (Intero Real Estate), membership director.

Representing the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® at the event were the local trade association president Carolyn Miller, board director and National Association of Realtors director John Tripp, board director Bonnie Kehl, board director Mark Burns, Global Business Council chair Jennifer Tasto and Global Business Council member Davena Gentry. Miller congratulated Lat and stressed the Realtor association's support for CAREA and the association's goals.

Lat thanked the Realtor association and other sponsors of CAREA. Lat noted the celebration coincided with the 25th anniversary of the Chinese American real estate group. In line with his theme of "fostering relationships," Lat said he wants to continue to cultivate CAREA's professional relationships with the Realtor and other associations.

"CAREA's mission is to advance the professional image of Chinese Americans engaged in real estate and promote sustainable home ownership to Chinese Americans in the Bay Area," said Lat. "We will continue to engage business professionals in our mission and provide opportunities that will accomplish this goal."

CAREA was formed in 1988 in the San Francisco Bay Area to promote the social and economic well-being of Chinese Americans actively engaged in the field of real estate.  Regular activities of the association include both dinner meetings and lunch seminars, which serve as forums for feature speakers to discuss contemporary and critical real estate issues and for networking with other Chinese American real estate professionals.

In addition to the Chinese American real estate group, the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® continues to support other ethnic real estate associations in their mission to promote sustainable home ownership for all individuals and families who strive to achieve the American dream of home ownership. "The Bay Area is home to a multitude of cultures. It is what makes this area special and one of the major reasons why demand for homes remains strong in this region," added Miller.

The Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR) is a professional trade organization representing over 4,000 REALTORS® and Affiliate members engaged in the real estate business on the Peninsula and in the South Bay.
