REALTOR®: Palo Alto REALTORS® present 2011 district awards

Palo Alto REALTORS® from the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR), a professional trade organization representing over 4,000 REALTORS® and affiliate members engaged in the real estate business on the Peninsula and in the South Bay, recognized members for their volunteerism and valuable service to their district and the Palo Alto community at an annual holiday breakfast and awards presentation this month.

Nancy MacLeod, a broker with Homes2Buy.com, was recognized as SILVAR's Palo Alto District REALTOR® of the Year. MacLeod, who is also the REALTOR® group's 2011 Palo Alto District chair and a SILVAR board director, was recognized for her leadership role and accomplishments in the industry. MacLeod's husband Guillaume Peters, owner of Sunviva Construction, was named the district's Affiliate of the Year. Peters, who is co-chair of the district's Affiliate Committee, was thanked for leading the Palo Alto District's affiliate group and offering a host of activities of benefit to the REALTORS®. Judy Ellis, a REALTOR® with Alain Pinel Realtors and the REALTOR® association's National Association of REALTORS® director, was presented the district's Spirit of SILVAR award for her efforts in championing public policy positions pertaining to the real estate industry and protection of private property rights before legislators in Washington, D.C. Sara Spang, a REALTOR® with Keller Williams and the district's Tour Committee chair, was presented the Committee Chair of the Year award. Desiree Docktor, a REALTOR® with Alain Pinel Realtors and chair of the Community Outreach Committee, was presented the district's Community Outreach award.

MacLeod, in turn, thanked all the volunteers and sponsors of this year's events. She especially thanked this year's District Council members for their service. In addition to MacLeod, Peters, Spang and Docktor, members of SILVAR's 2011 Palo Alto District Council include Jane Volpe (Midtown Realty), Palo Alto District Council chair-elect; Dante Drummond (Coldwell Banker), past chair; Jeff Beltramo (Coldwell Banker), RSVP & Membership; Kym Colyer (Countrywide Home Loans), Special Events; Michael Dreyfus (Dreyfus Properties), At-large; Tim Foy (Midtown Realty), Broker/Manager; Sejal Parekh (Innovae Designs), Affiliate co-chair; Lee Smith (Linda P. Smith), LGR; and Amy Sung (Coldwell Banker), Education.
