In a simple, yet elegant ceremony last night at Villa Montalvo in Saratoga, California Association of REALTORS(R) Treasurer Chris Kutzkey administered the oath of office to 2012 President Suzanne Yost and SILVAR's 2012 Board of Directors.

It was SILVAR's Cupertino/Sunnyvale District's turn to celebrate the holidays at its tour meeting yesterday, with a special breakfast and jovial singing of funny Christmas songs taken from the Internet. It was the last meeting of the year and Tour Meeting Chair Mark Burns thanked the District's REALTOR(R) members and affiliates for their support all year.

At the Los Gatos/Saratoga District holiday breakfast this morning, 2011 District Chair Doug Evans thanked members for their support all year. He especially thanked Vice Chair Chris Rasmussen, and the District Council, particularly Shawn Carroll and Matt Paulo, who assisted in the District's charity golf tournament in July.

The beautiful voices of the Mountain View High School Madrigal Singers echoed through the breakfast room and hallways of the Los Altos Hills Golf & Country Club, where members of the Los Altos/Mountain View District gathered to celebrate the holidays. Each year, the Madrigal Singers entertain members of the District with songs they sing in a capella. Their performance is one of the highlights of the District's annual holiday breakfast.

The Palo Alto District held its annual holiday breakfast and awards presentation last Friday, December 2. 2011 District Chair Nancy MacLeod thanked members of the district for attending this year's tour meetings and district events.

At the Toll House Hotel in Los Gatos last night, members of SILVAR's Los Gatos/Saratoga District celebrated their annual holiday gala and continued their longtime tradition of passing the gavel on to a new District Chair.

Last Thursday, Palo Alto District's REALTORS(R) and affiliates mixed and networked, and learned about how each district member can engage and participate in district programs and events. This annual celebration also recognizes Palo Alto District members who have contributed to the real estate community and community at large.

At yesterday's SILVAR Economic Seminar and General Membership Meeting, California Association of REALTORS(R) Deputy Chief Economist Robert Kleinhenz said the economy has improved, and for a while, there appeared to be a surge in the housing market, but wild cards in the domestic and international arena (Japan's earthquake and tsunami, oil price spikes, uprisings in the Middle East, stock market volatility, lawmakers wrestling with the debt limit ceiling and attempting to downgrade the U.S. debt, the debt crisis in the euro zone) dampened consumer confidence and, as a consequence, recovery has stalled.
