Approximately 80 people attended a seminar on “Effectively Serving the Asian American Community” hosted by AREAA-SV (Asian Real Estate Association of America – Silicon Valley) in partnership with SILVAR and the Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS(R) at the Cupertino Community Center on Thursday. John Fukuda, the national AREAA chair, delivered the presentation.

On Legislative Day in Sacramento this week, California Association of REALTORS(R) President Steve Goddard told the thousands of REALTORS(R) gathered at the Convention Center that legislative proposals can affect the real estate industry, their business, homeowners and buyers and ultimately, the economy. Goddard said therefore, the role of REALTORS(R) on Legislative Day is crucial.

Members welcomed summer by relaxing with good food, drinks and company at the Los Altos/Mountain View District's Memorial Day Mixer held Wednesday, May 26 at the First & Main Sports Lounge in Los Altos. About 50 members attended the event, which was sponsored by the Los Altos/Mountain View District.

Members of the Cupertino/Sunnyvale District gathered at Strike Cupertino for the District's annual Bowling for Charity on Wednesday, May 19. Every year, the District holds this fun event so members can relax and network with each other. Proceeds of this activity then go to charity. At the end of the day good time was had by all! This week, 275 volunteers from SILVAR's five districts were busy helping 152 seniors and the homebound with household tasks they can no longer do on their own. A sign the volunteers placed outside these homes and the t-shirts they donned displayed a blue and yellow logo that identified them as volunteers of the REALTOR(R) Service Volunteer Program (RSVP).

Approximately 50 people had fun learning about how to enhance and update their look at Wednesday's “First Impressions” Fashion Seminar at bloomingdale's Stanford in Palo Alto. Presented by the Palo Alto District's Affiliate Bank, the event featured DJ music, a reception with wine and hors d'oeuvres, demonstrations on the latest products and make-up, and the latest in spring fashion.

The Cupertino/Sunnyvale District celebrated Valentine's Day in a festive manner again this year, and it was all for charity.

SILVAR's 2010 leadership team was installed Thursday, January 14 at The Fairmont San Jose before 200 members, special guests, including a number of public officials, California Association of REALTORS(R) Treasurer Don Faught, and the leadership of neighboring real estate associations. Beth Peerce, C.A.R.'s 2010 President-Elect, administered the oath of office to SILVAR's 2010 President and Board of Directors.
