The 2014 officers and board of directors of the Filipino American Real Estate Association (FAREPA) of Northern California (formerly Santa Clara County chapter) were installed on Friday, February 28 at The Wyndham Garden Hotel in San Jose. Milpitas Mayor Jose Esteves administered the oath of office to 2014 FAREPA President Paul Stewart. The 2014 board of directors was sworn in by SILVAR Region 9 Chair Suzanne Yost.

Stewart is the government affairs director of the San Mateo County Association of REALTORS®. The other officers include Rick Bareng, Jr. (Century 21 – Alpha), vice president; Richard Miller (executiveloanofficer.com), secretary; and Jerry Quintos (Abbot, Stringham & Lynch, CPA), treasurer. The 2014 board of directors includes David Carroll (Prospect Mortgage), Felice Hollingsworth (Referral Realty), Melanie Holthaus (Intero Real Estate Services), Barbara Kuang (Allstate Insurance) and Richard Martinez (World Financial Group).

Yost praised the group's efforts at volunteerism and civic work as FAREPA has participated in programs that have aided victims of domestic violence, the poor and the homeless in Santa Clara County. FAREPA has raised money for victims of Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda, which devastated the Philippines a few months ago. FAREPA members of SILVAR have also participated in SILVAR's REALTOR® Service Volunteer Program (RSVP). SILVAR President David Tonna congratulated Stewart and renewed SILVAR's support for FAREPA.

In his address to FAREPA members and guests, Stewart said FAREPA chose this year's theme "Back to the Future" to exemplify that by remembering the lessons of the last few years, those in the real estate business will be poised to benefit as the housing market continues its recovery. He said FAREPA's outreach efforts in 2014 will be dedicated to ongoing relief for the Philippine typhoon victims.

Also representing SILVAR at the event were Carolyn Miller, past president; John Tripp, National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) director; Sue Bose, Cupertino/Sunnyvale District chair; Davena Gentry, SILVAR Global Business Council chair; and Rose Meily, public affairs & communications director.
