$2,500 to The Health Trust

The Silicon Valley Realtors® Charitable Foundation Trust presented $2,500 to The Health Trust. Eileen Giorgi, on behalf of SILVAR's Charitable Foundation Trust, presented the grant to Renee Kellythorne, Meals on Wheels director, at this week's Los Gatos/Saratoga District Tour Meeting.
Kellythorne thanked SILVAR Realtors and affiliates for their generous donation. She then gave them more information about the program, which is part of The Health Trust.
Since its inception in 1996, The Health Trust has provided over $100 million of benefits to the Silicon Valley community through its health services. The Meals on Wheels program, which was established as part of the Visiting Nurses Association in 1974, became a program of The Health Trust in 1974. The mission of Meals on Wheels is to provide a daily nutritious meal, social interaction, and additional wellness services to homebound adults so that they can maintain their independence at home.
Currently serving over 87,000 meals per year, the Meals on Wheels program is the only service in Santa Clara Country providing home-delivered hot meals to homebound disabled adults over 18. Without these services, many of these individuals would experience hunger, poor health and malnutrition, or be compelled to give up independent living, said Kellythorne.
Giorgi said the Charitable Foundation's grant will help Meals on Wheels deliver services to Los Gatos clients in coming year. These services include a daily home-delivered nutritious meal, a five to 10-minute visit and wellness check, case management assessments, and additional complimentary wellness-promoting services, such as audio book delivery, emergency kits, pet food, personal welfare packages, and more.
Giorgi also thanked fellow Realtors and Affiliates for their donation. "Thank you to all the donors to the Charitable Foundation who make it possible to assist those who do this important work in our community," Giorgi said.
