Palo Alto District Cruises Into Another Successful Year

Wednesday, November 7, 2007

The Palo Alto District's ship "docked" Monday evening, November 5, at the Palo Alto Roller Masonic Lodge, where members enjoyed great food, wine and reflected on their 2007 achievements.

As "passengers" arrived, they checked-in and mingled on the promenade deck. Each passenger received a passport upon "boarding the ship," and received a different stamp for each committee that they inquired about. Passports had to have 10 stamps to be entered into the drawing for the grand prize - a full page color ad in the Palo Alto Weekly newspaper, which was later won by Daisy Wong of Realty World.

Michael Hall served as master of ceremonies and welcomed everybody to the "cruise ship." Hall and 2007 Palo Alto District Council Chair and SILVAR Board Director Julia Keady announced it was time to celebrate the achievements of the year, thank members for their work, introduce the 2008 committee chairs and encourage members to sign-up for the different committees. They noted serving in the various committees gives Realtors and affiliates a chance to give back to the community.

Hall also thanked the Palo Alto Roller Masonic Temple for the use of the venue and especially for the $500 donation they made to Partners in Education. Donations this year from the spring and fall drives totaled over $60,000, Hall proudly announced.

Keady then welcomed Palo Alto District Council Chair-elect Nadr Essabhoy who, in turn, introduced and thanked the 2007 committee chairs and welcomed the committee chairs of 2008.
