Bold Prints, Vibrant Colors In for Spring
Friday, March 21, 2008
Bold prints punched up with a splash of vibrant color are going to be popular this spring. Flats will be a big key look in shoe wear, as well as wedge shoes and chunky heels. This fashion message was delivered by models at the “First Impressions Fashion Seminar,” held last week in Nordstrom at the Stanford Shopping Center.
The event featured a reception and demonstrations on the latest products, make-up and accessories, along with a fashion show. Five models sported the latest in fashion, with clothes and accessories from the Personal Touch Department of Nordstrom.
Over 60 people attended the event, which was hosted by SILVAR’s Palo Alto District and sponsored by State Farm Insurance (Jerri Fink), Princeton Capital (Caroline Wolf) and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage (Jimmy Kang), Events Sponsors; Allied Insurance Broker (Chris Grammar), Wine Sponsor; Sand Hill Financial (Alma Portillo), Water/Cider Sponsor.
SILVAR affiliate Jimmy Kang welcomed everybody to the event and introduced Connie Cruz, Nordstrom Northern California marketing coordinator, and Carol Cassetta, Nordstrom Personal Touch director for Northern California and Hawaii.
Cassetta told the audience wedge shoes, chunky heels, suede and flats big key looks in shoe wear; metallics are still popular for accessories, particularly for handbags; and it’s even okay to mix metallics together.
In all, it’s the sophisticated, chic look that’s “in” for spring. “You want attire that is easy, yet functional, and can be used for business from day into night,” Cassetta said.
“Trench coats will also be a key item for spring,” she added.
Shoes, handbags and accessories such as stacked bangles, silver embellished hardware, are important and “give you an opportunity to show your inner self, so don’t be afraid to dress up your attire and include them,” Cassetta said.
Your goal, like that of the fashion show, is “to project that wonderful first impression!” she noted.
“The First Impressions Fashion Seminar for 2008 was a great success, with lots of food, wine, great networking and great fashions,” Kang reflected on the event. “There was a lot of energy this year, with five models interacting with the audience.”
In addition to thanking the sponsors for their support, Kang also thanked committee members and volunteers. “The event was made successful with the help of all of the committee members and volunteers,” said Kang.
Kang would like to thank committee members Connie Prince, Lonnell Graham, Peter Keller, Bonny Upton, Alma Portillo, and volunteers Kellie Morlock, Chris Shupp and SILVAR Development Director Kelly Dadsetan.
