Cupertino/Sunnyvale District presents $1,000 in grantsSaturday, December 16, 2006
Realtors and affiliates of SILVAR’s Cupertino/Sunnyvale District presented Sunnyvale Community Services and Cupertino Community Services each with a $500 grant at the district’s tour meeting on Thursday, December 14. District Chair and SILVAR President-elect Mark Burns presented the checks to Nancy Tivol, executive director of Sunnyvale Community Services, and Kim Fern, program director for Cupertino Community Services. Founded in 1970, Sunnyvale Community Services is an independent, nonprofit emergency assistance agency which aims to prevent homelessness and hunger for low-income families and to help seniors remain independent. The organization provides financial aid, food, and other support that prevents larger problems with more expensive solutions. The organization provides a continuum of basic needs, family services and housing services including information and referrals, food, clothing, shelter, affordable housing, financial assistance, and case management. The agency serves the West Valley communities of Cupertino, West San Jose, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, and Saratoga. “We are very grateful for the continuing support that you have given our organization,” said Ferm.
