At the Toll House Hotel in Los Gatos last night, members of SILVAR's Los Gatos/Saratoga District celebrated their annual holiday gala and continued their longtime tradition of passing the gavel on to a new District Chair.

2011 Los Gatos/Saratoga District Chair Doug Evans thanked members for helping support what has been a very successful year for the district. Evans recognized California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) President-elect Don Faught, C.A.R. Past President Jim Hamilton, 2012 SILVAR President Suzanne Yost, SILVAR Past President John Tripp, SILVAR Executive Officer Paul Cardus, then introduced 2012 District Chair Cassie Maas and 2012 District Chair-elect Karen Trolan.

Evans highlighted a number of memorable district tour meetings and events, but noted that he is most proud of the district's Charity Golf Tournament, which was held in July at the Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in San Jose and raised $7,000 for charity. Proceeds from the golf tournament went to Lucile Packard Foundation, the Los Gatos Education Foundation, Los Gatos Community Foundation, Los Gatos Public Library and Operation Reindeer. Evans then thanked members of this year's Los Gatos/Saratoga District Council: Stuart Campbell, Shawn Carroll, Darrell Monda, Matt Paulo, Chris Rasmussen, Bill Rehbock, Dave Tonna, John Tripp, Rick White, and SILVAR Development Director Kelly Dadsetan.

It soon came time to witness the gavel ceremoniously passed on from past district chairs to the 2012 District Chair. With the assistance of Tripp, the gavel went down the line from Jeff Barnett, Mike Nevis, Dennis Byron, Dave Tonna, Ian Macrae, Bill Rehbock, to Evans and then on to the lone woman in the line, 2012 District Chair Cassie Maas.

Maas then took the floor and thanked everyone for their support and encouragement. She especially thanked members who have made a difference in her life and who encouraged her to step up to the plate and get involved in organized real estate. They included Jeff Barnett, Jim Hamilton, Dennis Byron, and Dave Tonna and Suzanne Yost, who invited her to join the first Bay Area REALTOR® Academy in 2010. She thanked members for the opportunity to serve them beginning in January and pledged to make the 2012 a successful year for the district.
