The Los Altos/Mountain View District had an impressive array of items at its first Pumpkin Auction last Friday. Members were very generous with their donations, and fellow members reciprocated by generously bidding on the items. Joe Brown, managing broker of Coldwell Banker – Los Altos, served as the event's auctioneer, and entertained the audience with his friendly and humorous repartee with other brokers of the District. The brokers were very generous with their donations. At the end of the meeting, the District raised $3,525 for the Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation.
Thank you to the following pumpkin donors: Coldwell Banker – Los Altos (Bonnie Kehl and Joe Brown), Alain Pinel Realtors – Los Altos (Bill Lewis), Sereno Group – Los Altos (Tim Proschold), Allied Brokers – Palo Alto (Chris Grammar), Property Inspection Services (Larry Tringali), Clutterboy – Tom Anderson, JL Designs & Interiors (Jeanette Lorets), Campi Properties – Los Altos (Lauren Campi-Legge), Intero Real Estate – Los Altos (John Thompson), Vector Atlas (Bob Landsinger) and Dorothy Liu.
What made the Pumpkin Auction special was each donor presented and shared a story about their item. Lauren Campi-Legge said her family decided on a Cinderella themed pumpkin to represent their children. Tom Anderson of Clutterboy said his daughter spent hours carving her pumpkin, which he offered with gift certificates for services. The Clutterboy pumpkin was purchased by Gary Campi for $250. John Thompson shared a similar story about his pumpkin designed by his children, and that pumpkin received $275 from Tim Proschold.
The District presented the following awards to reward members for their efforts: Top Company Pumpkin: Alain Pinel Realtors-Los Altos broker/manager Bill Lewis, whose Pirate Them Pumpkin, which offered a Bay Cruise for 12, received the highest bid - $1,200; Best Theme Pumpkin - Campi Properties – Lauren Campi-Legge's Cinderella Pumpkin, with a Rosewood Spa Treatment; and Best Pumpkin by an Individual – Carlos Guerra of Allied Brokers – Palo Alto.
It turned out to be a lively event, enjoyed by all members. Thank you to pumpkin auction organizers District Chair Bonnie Kehl and District Affiliate Chair Nancy Domich for undertaking the first event of its kind for the District.
