Fashion Seminar Gives Members Tips on What’s In for Spring

Friday, March 23, 2007

Over 65 people attended "First Impression, a Fashion Seminar," held on March 22, at Nordstrom's in the Stanford Shopping Center. The event was put on by the Palo Alto District's Affiliate Committee and Affiliate Bank.

A reception and demonstrations on the latest products, make-up and accessories were followed by the seminar, which featured male and female models wearing the latest in fashion, with clothes and accessories from Studio 121. SILVAR affiliate Jimmy Kang (Wells Fargo Home Mortgage) welcomed everybody to the event and introduced Maureen Norton, with the Personal Touch Department of Nordstrom. Norton said she has put on the seminar with SILVAR's affiliates for the past five years.

So what's in for spring of 2007?

Norton indicated pearls are still "as strong as ever" and navy is a new/old color that people will be seeing more of, along with metals in jackets and bags.

"You will also see a European moodiness in colors," Norton noted, with lots of pewter, gold and copper tones. Animal prints are also "in" this season.

Façonnable attire, especially linen and cotton jackets for men as well as women, will be popular. Also fashionable this season will be tunics and outfits that can easily convert from a working woman's attire to a casual after-work style.

Hot accessories for this season include straw bags, which Norton said "will be huge this season. Organic will also be huge in jewelry this season."

Kang said the March 22nd event was "one of the best."

"It was well-attended and very informative as always, because Maureen Norton always puts on an excellent event," he said.

Kang told SILVAR members to be on the lookout and get ready to block their calendars this fall. The District is planning a similar event which will feature evening attire for the holidays.
