$3,000 to Project Read in Menlo Park

The Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation presented $3,000 to Project Read-Menlo Park at the Palo Alto Tour Meeting last Friday, March 23.

Project Read enables adults and families to improve their basic literacy skills so they can achieve their goals and function more effectively at home, in the community, at work, and as lifelong learners. Volunteers are trained to tutor adults in reading, writing, and English speaking skills.

Kristi Breisch, Development & Marketing Associate and Advisory Board Member of Project Read in Menlo Park, accepted the grant from Charitable Foundation Trustee Judy Ellis. Both Breisch and Ellis thanked all the donors to the Charitable Foundation who make it possible to assist those who do this important work in the community.

Breisch said Project Read's beginning English, intermediate English, and beginning speaking English classes at Belle Haven Community School have been growing. With the support from the Charitable Foundation, Project Read will be able to purchase books and other instructional materials for use it the expanding classes.

This donation by the Charitable Foundation Trust has been made possible in part by sponsorship from the Heritage Bank of Commerce.
