- For Immediate Release -

Cupertino, CA - The Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® is proud to announce due to the generous support given to the event by SILVAR Realtors and affiliates, $76,200 was raised at the 10th annual HIF Home for the Holidays.

Held on October 18 at the Avalon in Santa Clara, Home for the Holidays ushered in the holiday season with a gourmet buffet, live and silent auctions, a raffle and dancing to live music by Garage Band. In the spirit of the holiday season, SILVAR members supported the event, which benefits the Housing Industry Foundation. Over 350 people attended the events and participation was excellent in the live and silent auctions. The winner of the big raffle item – a trip for two to Hawaii, was Sharon Butler from Indymac Bank.

Many in attendance wore colorful costumes as part of the event's Halloween theme. The evening featured David Walsh, a Realtor with Windermere Silicon Valley Properties, as master of ceremonies and Charlie Krackeler as the auctioneer.

Home for the Holidays is SILVAR's biggest annual charity fundraiser. Funds SILVAR Realtors and affiliates raise during Home for the Holidays go directly to the HIF, a non-profit charity which helps individuals and families in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties either remain in, or return to stable housing. SILVAR's contribution makes up 20 percent of HIF's budget, according to HIF Executive Director Debbie Wade. Wade and Dennis Young of the Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation were pleased with the turn-out this year.

"HIF is thrilled to have SILVAR as such a close partner. We're very grateful," said Wade.

Dale Anne Collings and Robert Reid, who have co-chaired the HIF planning committee for the past 10 years, thanked everyone who participated in the event, especially the sponsors, donors and volunteers.

"I would really like to thank the many people who participated to make the event possible, especially the planning committee that worked so hard for many months and the sponsors and donors and people who attended," said Collings.
