Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation Donations Total $64,700 for 2007

Cupertino, CA - The Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation donated a total of $64,770 in 2007 to different non-profit organizations that help homeless and low-income individuals and families in Silicon Valley.

The Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation is a trust, which makes grants available to organizations from donations by its REALTOR® and Affiliate members and friends. SILVAR Realtors and affiliates are committed to the welfare and prosperity of the communities where they live and work, and through their charitable contributions and member involvement, strive to help create more productive and enriched communities.

The 2007 grant recipients are from SILVAR's five districts - Los Altos/Mountain View, Los Gatos/Saratoga, Sunnyvale/Cupertino/Santa Clara, Palo Alto and Menlo Park/Atherton. The recipients were Achievekids, Child Advocates of Silicon Valley, Christmas Bureau of Palo Alto, Community Association for Rehabilitation, Community Gardens as Appleseeds, Community Health Awareness Council, Community School of Music & Arts (CSMA), Community Services Agency, EMQ – Community & Family Services – Eastfield Ming Quong, Inc., Family & Children Services (including FAST 0 Families ad Schools Together), Friends for Youth, Friends of Deer Hollow Farm, Health Trust (Meals-On-Wheels), Help One Child, JustREAD, Mariposa's Art, The Morgan Center, My New Red Shoes, Operation Reindeer, Pacific Autism Center (PACE), Palo Alto Elks Lodge, Partners for New Generations – Rotary Club of Los Altos, Peninsula Association for Retarded Children & Adults (PARCA), Project Read (California Literacy Campaign), Senior Housing Solutions, Stevenson House, Sunnyvale Community Services, Via Services, Westwind 4-H Handicapped Riding Program - Westwind Riding Institute and Youth Community Services.

In addition to these donations, $18,000 went to the Charitable Foundation's Scholarship Program, which recognizes outstanding graduating seniors from schools in the Silicon Valley communities. In 2007, 18 high school seniors were presented each with $1,000 scholarships upon graduation.
 
SILVAR Realtors and affiliates also raised $76,200 for the Housing Industry Foundation (HIF), from the association's annual Home for the Holidays charity event, which is held in October and ushers in the holidays. Members of SILVAR's five districts likewise gave $70,000 to different charities in their respective communities, which included $60,000 to the Palo Alto Unified School District, as part of the annual Palo Alto Realtors® Cam-paign for Partners in Education (PIE).

2007 Foundation officers included Cindy Luedtke (First Republic Bank), president; Polly Neumann (Coldwell Banker), treasurer and Foundation Board Directors David Bergman (Intero Real Estate), Brian Bernasconi (Alain Pinel Realtors), Cammie Brodie, (Diversified Capital), Brian Chancellor (Alain Pinel Realtors), Greg Ebejer (Alain Pinel Realtors), Judy Ellis (Alain Pinel Realtors), Joanne Fraser (Coldwell Banker), Jean Gilsing (Apple Realty), Eileen Giorgi (Alain Pinel Realtors), Lisa Keith (Red Hawk Real Estate), Jim Magill (Village Square Realty) and Christopher Ray (Sereno Group).

The Charitable Foundation Trustees meet quarterly (March, June, September, and December) to evaluate applications. Applications must be received by Feb. 15, May 15, Aug. 15, and Nov. 15 in order to be considered at the quarterly meeting.
