Wednesday, March 14, 2012

Members of the real estate industry congratulated the 2012 officers and board directors of the Filipino American Real Estate Professional Association (FAREPA) - Santa Clara County Chapter at their installation luncheon held last week in San Jose.

Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR) Region 9 Chair Jeff Bell installed this year's officers and board. They include 2012 FAREPA president Richard Martinez, a financial advisor with Transamerica Financial Advisors; Barbara Kuang (Farmers Insurance), vice president; Jerry Quintos (Abbot, Stringham & Lynch CPA), treasurer; Paul Stewart (San Mateo County Association of REALTORS®), immediate past president; Fe Casem (IBIS Universal Corporation), Evelyn Greenleaf (Consultant), Marlo Ibon (Intero Real Estate Services), Richard Miller (Rate.comb), directors.

Martinez welcomed the real estate professionals and officials to the installation ceremony and thanked them for their support. "Today is not about me, but it's about all of you and helping each other succeed in this industry," said Martinez.

SILVAR president Suzanne Yost, a guest speaker at the event, congratulated FAREPA's new leadership team for their commitment. "It takes courage to step into leadership positions. SILVAR values its partnership with groups like FAREPA," said Yost. "Partnerships are key to success and all real estate professionals should treat each other with care and nurture these relationships every chance they get."

The group awarded the Honorary Filipino award to Yost, Bell, and Barbara Lymberis, president of the Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS®. Stewart, FAREPA's immediate past president, thanked them for their support and noted that the REALTOR® associations are the flagships of FAREPA.

This year also marks FAREPA's 10-year anniversary as a real estate organization in the South Bay. REALTORS® Tess Crescini, Ray Maglalang, Theresa Dwyer, Joe Salcedo and Edwin Resuello founded FAREPA in 2002. FAREPA now has chapters on the Peninsula and East Bay, as well. The association's mission is "to promote the interests of Filipino American real estate professionals, to elevate the level of professionalism with the global community through education, networking and partnership and to create a united voice within the real estate industry." Crescini, who is a SILVAR member, continues to serve as advisor to the group.

Martinez said FAREPA's goals this year include emphasizing REALTOR® education and a continued involvement in local charities. InnVision (The Way Home), Silicon Valley's largest non-profit provider for shelter and services to the homeless and victims of domestic abuse, is a recent recipient of donations from the real estate group.

The Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR) is a professional trade organization representing over 4,000 REALTORS® and Affiliate members engaged in the real estate business on the Peninsula and in the South Bay.
