REALTOR VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST SENIORS May 3-7

RSVP Program Offers Seniors Help with Household Tasks, February 26 Application Deadline

Cupertino, CA -- For homeowners or renters who are advanced in years or physically challenged, tasks like replacing smoke detector batteries, flipping a mattress or washing the windows can be a major chore. Seniors and the homebound who live on the Peninsula or in the South Bay may now request free assistance with such household tasks through the REALTOR(R) Service Volunteer Program (RSVP) for the week of May 3-7, 2010. The deadline for seniors to request assistance is Friday, February 26.

Leadership Academy Offered for Bay Area REALTORS(R)

Cupertino, CA - The Bay Area REALTOR(R) Leadership Academy (BARLA), an alliance of three REALTOR(R) Associations, is seeking REALTORS(R) who are interested in attending a leadership training program beginning January 2010. This new leadership program is designed to identify, train and develop existing and emerging leaders to serve and advance organized real estate. Participants will learn to polish their strengths and learn new skills that will prove useful in all aspects of life and career.

Silicon Valley REALTORS(R) Object to Proposal to Reduce Mortgage Interest Deduction

Cupertino, CA - REALTORS(R) are registering their opposition to a proposal by the Obama Administration to place a cap on itemized deductions, including mortgage interest deduction. The proposal, included in the administration's FY2009 Budget, would cap the value of deductions for mortgage interest, charitable donations, investment expenses and other items at 28 percent for people in the top brackets, or 30 percent less than they can currently receive.
