Cupertino, CA -- For homeowners or renters who are advanced in years or physically challenged, tasks like replacing smoke detector batteries, flipping a mattress or washing the windows can be a major chore. Seniors and the homebound who live on the Peninsula or in the South Bay may now request free assistance with such household tasks through the REALTOR(R) Service Volunteer Program (RSVP) for the week of May 3-7, 2010. The deadline for seniors to request assistance is Friday, February 26.

Cupertino, CA -- The 11th annual Silicon Valley Scholars Program for graduating seniors from 18 public high schools in Silicon Valley is now underway. The scholars program is sponsored by the Charitable Foundation of the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS(R), the 4,000-member trade association representing REALTORS(R) and affiliate members on the Peninsula and in the South Bay.

Cupertino, CA - REALTORS(R) are registering their opposition to a proposal by the Obama Administration to place a cap on itemized deductions, including mortgage interest deduction. The proposal, included in the administration's FY2009 Budget, would cap the value of deductions for mortgage interest, charitable donations, investment expenses and other items at 28 percent for people in the top brackets, or 30 percent less than they can currently receive.
