Year of Water Rabbit is One of Introspection, But Expect Hiccups

At Tuesday's program celebrating the Lunar New Year, SILVAR members eagerly listened at what Feng Shui Master and Master Dowser Jo Preston, a SILVAR REALTOR® with Montalvo Ventures, Inc., had to say about 2023, the Year of the Water Rabbit. Preston said according to Chinese astrology, the Year of the Water Rabbit is a harbinger for more tranquil times and brings more gentleness and serenity. It is a period of observation and introspection. We'll be able to concentrate on our yearly goals.
"The Rabbit encourages us to work on relationships, to build bridges rather than walls. It's a time to heal wounds, acquire inner balance, make plans for the future. Be more self-aware, make rational decisions," said Preston. She added that we should pay special attention to our children, as they have lost lots of connections during the Covid period and need extra love and assurance. This year is also a great time for authors and writers.
Feng Shui's five elements are fire, water, wood, metal and earth. Preston said this year metal and earth are missing, so she suggests for metal, add white, pastels, a metal wind chime, silver. Now is the time to set out that silver pitcher, she said. Set out live plants to represent earth.
Preston introduced the Flying Star map (see chart in link below) that shows the good and no-so-good places and suggested the following to mitigate the negative places. Add a plant, such as money tree (#8), add an aquarium or fish tank, keep water clean (#3), add red colors (#9), add metal, metallic or white colors, or a wind chime (#2 & #7). In 2023, the best place is the North for long-term happiness. Avoid construction in the northwest and east; if unavoidable, place something metal in that area.
Good colors this year are blue, apple green, white and gold. Orange stands for fire and makes a great accessory, but should be avoided in the middle of the home, along pink and yellow. Other tips for the home include: do not place mirrors opposite doors, keep your home bright, place a new black doormat at the entry of the home and lush plants on each side of the entry. Don't place cactus plants in your home. Keep the bathroom door closed and toilet seat down. Make your home smell good with earthy scents, like cinnamon and pine. Keep the home open and flowing so the Chi travels freely around the house. Chi is the energy that affects how you feel and think.
Like every year, Preston said there will be hiccups. She shared the following predictions from a number of clairvoyants, but cautioned not to take these predictions to heart:
2023 is a year of consequences for government, medicine, doctors, nurses, teachers, child and human trafficking. There will be financial uncertainty, chaos, collapse of the monetary system. The highs will be high, and the lows will be low, but by end of year things will improve. We will return to a new gold-backed system.
Stay vigilant about your health when you travel. Keep your immune system strong. Take some vitamin D.
There will be floods, more earthquakes, including one in Southern California. There will be brutal storms in Alaska, Hawaii and Mexico, and forest fires, with a huge one in Utah. There will be blackouts with technology affecting the internet and cell phones.
Through all these hiccups, Preston said, "Follow your heart, strengthen your energy, keep balance and harmony in your life, and you're going to be just fine."
In closing, Preston shared these parting words:
