Players of both teams congratulate ech other after a great game.

Day on the Diamond, the co-ed softball game held last week between Team 650 (REALTOR® members of SILVAR's Menlo Park/Atherton, Palo Alto and Los Altos/Mountain View districts) and Team 408 (REALTOR® members of SILVAR's Cupertino/Sunnyvale and Los Gatos/Saratoga districts), turned out to be competitive, but fun and successful in raising money for the Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation.

Last Thursday's event was hosted by the Los Gatos/Saratoga District from Team 408, which won last year's game. Members gathered at Vasona Park, Los Gatos for the game and a delicious barbecue meal provided by Bianchini's Catering.

Both teams gathered at the field for opening ceremonies. Michael Kanuk, brother of Los Gatos/Saratoga District Chair Cassie Maas, sang the national anthem and her son Chris Maas carried the flag. SILVAR President Suzanne Yost then threw the first pitch, and the game commenced. As the two REALTOR® teams played ball, other members of both teams cheered loud, chanting "408, 408, 408" and "650, 650, 650" on opposite sides.

Team 650 led throughout the game, but excitement built up when it appeared Team 408 would catch up, when it scored two more runs. In the end, it was Team 650 that succeeded in taking the trophy home with them, with a score of 6-4.

Day on the Diamond was started by Bill Lewis, Judi Kiel and Lehua Greenman in 2007 so members from SILVAR's five districts could come together and re-connect, or meet each other for the first time. "It has been a fun and successful event!" said Greenman, chair of the Day on the Diamond Committee. "My hope is to continue with the barbecue and co-ed softball tradition, so that agents throughout SILVAR may find this event an opportunity to enjoy meeting their SILVAR associates from north to south and in-between."

With both sides now having a win, it is a certainty that there will be a rematch next year, said Maas. "It was a great day, a great party and Team 650 fought hard to win back that trophy. We are looking forward to winning it back next year!" said Maas.
