Wednesday, March 27, 2013

The Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR) joined the real estate community in congratulating the Chinese American Real Estate Association (CAREA)'s 2013 leadership team at their installation dinner held March 23 at the Asian Pearl restaurant in Milpitas. Congressman Mike Honda installed 2013 CAREA President Dexter Lat, a REALTOR® with RE/MAX One Alliance, and the association's officers and board of directors.

Joining Lat are this year's officers and board of directors, including immediate past president John Luk (GD Commercial); Coco Tan (Coldwell Banker) and Lillian Chiang (California Bank & Trust), vice presidents; Joyce Sun, (GD Commercial), treasurer; Regina Wang (GD Commercial), secretary; Jennifer Chen (JC Investment), public affairs director; Kenny Cen (Realtor), marketing director; Wilson Chai (Bank of America), program director; and Yuang Chang, (Intero Real Estate), membership director.

Representing SILVAR at the event were SILVAR President Carolyn Miller, NAR Director John Tripp, Board Director Bonnie Kehl, Board Director Mark Burns, Global Business Council Chair Jennifer Tasto, Global Business Council member Davena Gentry, and Public Affairs Director Rose Meily. SILVAR President Carolyn Miller congratulated Lat and stressed SILVAR's support for CAREA and the association's goals.

Lat thanked SILVAR and other sponsors of CAREA, and noted the celebration coincided with the 25th anniversary of the association. In line with his theme of "fostering relationships," Lat said he wants to continue to cultivate and nurture CAREA's professional relationships, continue the association's mission and advance the professional image of Chinese Americans engaged in real estate.

CAREA was formed in 1988 in the San Francisco Bay Area to promote the social and economic well-being of Chinese-Americans actively engaged in the field of real estate.  Regular activities of the association include both dinner meetings and lunch seminars, which serve as forums for feature speakers to discuss contemporary and critical real estate issues and for networking with other Chinese-American real estate professionals.

The Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR) is a professional trade organization representing over 4,000 REALTORS® and Affiliate members engaged in the real estate business on the Peninsula and in the South Bay. SILVAR promotes the highest ethical standards of real estate practice, serves as an advocate for homeownership and homeowners, and represents the interests of property owners in Silicon Valley.

The term "REALTOR®" is a registered collective membership mark which identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of REALTORS® and who subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics.
