REALTOR®: SILVAR REALTOR® is 2014 Women's Council of REALTORS® chapter president

Members of the real estate industry congratulated the Women's Council of REALTORS® (WCR) Santa Clara Valley chapter on the installation of the group's 2014 president and officers on Dec. 4. Mimi Wang, a REALTOR® with Century 21 M&M in Cupertino and a member of the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR) is the 2014 WCR local chapter president.

Taking the oath of office along with Wang were Laura Welch, a Realtor with Century 21 M&M & Associates, president-elect; Thora Tam, with Decorating Den Interiors, secretary; and Steven Diec, home lending consultant with Citibank, treasurer. They were installed by Paula Hildebrand Johnsen, 2014 president at Central Valley Association of REALTORS®, and Debbie Richardson Mason, president at 2013 President North Central Valley Women's Council of REALTORS®.

The Women's Council of REALTORS® serves as a network and source of education and business tools focused on the needs of women REALTORS® and seeks to empower women to exercise their potential as entrepreneurs and industry leaders. WCR is the 12th largest women's organization in the country.

SILVAR President Carolyn Miller delivered the inspiration message. Referring to the group's mission statement, which seeks "to advance women as professionals and leaders in business, the industry and the community," Miller invited WCR to continue working with the local trade association and the REALTOR® community as a whole, for the benefit of the industry and the clients they all serve. Miller stressed professionalism, adherence to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics and teamwork.

"The greatest accomplishments in life are not achieved by individuals alone, but by proactive people pulling together for a common good. Our mission in life is to offer our gifts to benefit one another, to create mutual gain in the world," said Miller.

SILVAR was also represented at the event by president-elect David Tonna, past president Suzanne Yost, board directors John Tripp, Mark Burns, Mary Combes, Bonnie Kehl, Kathryn Tomaino, Bill Moody, and public affairs director Rose Meily.


The Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR) is a professional trade organization representing over 4,000 REALTORS® and Affiliate members engaged in the real estate business on the Peninsula and in the South Bay.
