SILVAR joined Silicon Valley's real estate community in congratulating the 2019-2020 president, officers and board directors of the Chinese American Real Estate Association (CAREA) at their installation dinner last Friday at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara. SILVAR President Alan Barbic administered the oath of office to the CAREA leadership.

The 2019-2020 CAREA leadership includes President Yuan-Sing Chang, a REALTOR® with Intero Commercial Saratoga and a member of SILVAR. Chang is serving his second term as president.   Chang is joined by Wilson Chai (Bank of America), vice president; Shen Li (Intero Commercial), secretary; and Jimmy Chien (Keller Williams Silicon City), treasurer.

The association's 2019-2020 board directors are Jennifer Chen (JC Investment), Dexter Lat (Realty World One Alliance), Nick Park (Intero Commercial), Mattie Wei (Re/Max Accord), Angela Wu (Intero Commercial), WaiMan Chan (Eagle Strategies, LLC), Barbara Kuang (Allstate-BnW Associates, LLC). Advisors are John Luk (GD Commercial), David Bonaccorsi, Esq. (Law Offices of Bernard, Balgley & Bonaccorsi, LLP), and Sheena Chang (PC Retail Properties, LLC).

Bonaccorsi served as master of ceremonies during the evening. Keynote speaker James Chung, West Region Retail lead and executive managing director with Cushman &Wakefield, spoke on the need to continue changing and evolving. An array of entertainment followed Chung' talk and included music, dances and singers.

In his address to members and guests, Chang thanked the real estate community for their support. He said he wants to continue making the group's mission statement his focus, noting the goal can only be accomplished with member participation and teamwork.

The Chinese American real estate group was formed in 1988 in the San Francisco Bay Area "to promote the social and economic well-being of associates and to further the image of Chinese Americans who are engaged in the field of real estate." Members are actively engaged in the field of real estate sales and brokerage, property management, mortgage banking, and real estate development.

Regular activities of the association include both dinner meetings and lunch seminars, which serve as forums for featured speakers to discuss contemporary and critical real estate issues, and for networking with other Chinese American real estate professionals. These activities help members understand the various aspects of practicing real estate, including sales training and technology updates.

Also representing SILVAR at the event were SILVAR President-elect Mary Kay Groth, Global Business Council (GBC) Chair Joanne Fraser, and GBC member and past chair Mark Wong.
