Silicon Valley Association of Realtors' leadership and other members of the real estate community congratulated the Vietnamese National Association of Real Estate Professionals at the association's Tet celebration held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Sunnyvale on Jan. 13. This year, Paige Nguyen, a Realtor with METIS Real Estate, Inc., will resume her position as VNARP President. Nguyen first assumed the role of president of the Vietnamese real estate association in 2020 during the pandemic. She continued as president last year.
Joining Nguyen's leadership team are Jeff Vo, with GD Commercial, Past President; Trinh Wong with GD Commercial, treasurer; Mia Nguyen with KW Silicon City, secretary; and Helen Duong with North Valley Real Estate, Board Chairperson. Board directors and the committees they head include Tu Tran with Tuscany Real Estate Services, Membership; Anna Nguyen with KW Peninsula Estates; Nathan Nguyen with Intero Real Estate, Sponsorship; Will Nguyen with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, Marketing; Janet Huynh Nguyen with Bank of the West, Community Outreach; and Bruce Wagg with KW | Bruce Wagg Group, Education.
"We are a member-focused organization where we center our culture, mission and values on our members. As we emerge, navigate and work through the pandemic, we've learned, more than ever, all the different ways we can continue to support and give back to our communities," said Nguyen. "Our goal is looking forward to the overall growth of our organization in various ways of quality education, outreach and our directory for professional resources and development."
In the past year VNARP has partnered with several non-profit groups to raise funds for children in Vietnam and to conduct a Mother's Day drive-thru food distribution. VNARP also raised funds for ventilators and other lifesaving equipment to help Vietnam fight COVID-19.
SILVAR 2022 President Brett Caviness and 2021 President Joanne Fraser represented the local Realtor association at the Tet event and congratulated Nguyen. "On behalf of SILVAR, Joanne Fraser and I congratulate VNARP President Paige Nguyen and the 2022 VNARP officers and board of directors. We at SILVAR value our relationship and look forward to continuing our support of your association into 2022 and serving as a resource for you," said Caviness.
Caviness said one of his major goals this year is to enrich the Realtor community by focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion through strengthening involvement with affiliated organizations, committees, and overall member engagement, and supporting real estate organizations whose goal is sustainable homeownership for all.
Tet, which is an abbreviation for Tet Nguyen Dan, is Vietnam's Lunar Year celebration and the most important and widely celebrated public festival of the year in the country. It is a time for Vietnamese to express their respect for ancestors and welcome the Lunar New Year with family members.
Last week's event featured traditional Vietnamese food, lots of entertainment, including the traditional dragon dance, which mimics the dragon's movements with a hope to bring good luck and fortune. The celebration also included an Ao Dai contest. Ao Dai is a long gown with trousers traditionally worn by Vietnamese women.
