2022 Silicon Valley Realtors leadership installed
On Feb. 1, in its first in-person event since the pandemic lockdown in March 2020, the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors held an inaugural gala installing the association's 2022 leadership team. California Association of Realtors 2022 President Otto Catrina administered the oath of office to 2022 SILVAR President Brett Caviness and the officers and board directors. 2021 C.A.R. President Dave Walsh served as master of ceremonies.
Caviness is a Realtor with Compass Menlo Park. Joining Caviness as officers are Jim Hamilton, a Realtor with Compass Los Gatos, president-elect, and Jeff Bell, broker manager at Coldwell Banker Realty, Cupertino, treasurer.
The 2022 board of directors include Joanne Fraser (Compass), past president and Region 9 chair; Denise Welsh (Compass), NAR director; district chairs Jasmine Lee, (Coldwell Banker Realty), Menlo Park-Atherton; Stacey Woods (Compass), Palo Alto; Katherine Frey (Kathrine Frey Real Estate), Los Altos-Mountain View; Tracey McNeely (Compass), Cupertino-Sunnyvale; and Tammie Peters (Sereno), Los Gatos-Saratoga; and directors at-large Ketan Jashapara (Compass), Karen Trolan (Sereno), Suzanne Yost (Compass), Elizabeth Doyle (Sereno), Eileen Giorgi (Sereno) and Sunita Merchia (Merchia Realty).
A native of Iowa, Caviness earned his real estate license while in college at the University of Northern Iowa. In 2012, he moved to Palo Alto, got his California real estate license, and not long after became a top producer in the business. In 2018, Caviness was named one of 30 finalists nationwide to Realtor Magazine's Class of 30 Under 30.
Before becoming 2021 president-elect, Caviness joined SILVAR's Menlo Park-Atherton District Council and served as the district's chair. He served as C.A.R. Region 9 director in 2015. He joined the Young Professionals Network and taught classes at SILVAR on how agents can use video to market themselves and their listings. In 2016, Caviness received the SILVAR President's Award for his contributions to the association.
Caviness thanked fellow Realtors "who put your heart and soul into this profession, who have to duck out of family dinners to calm a frantic client, agents who arrive at a weekend open house early to make sure every pillow's in place and the house looks just right. You're on call every day, spend nights, weekends, holidays all for one purpose. We're putting our clients' goals and needs ahead of our own to achieve their goals of buying and selling really their most important asset that they'll ever have in their entire lives and that's their homes."
Caviness invited members to step up, become involved, join a district council, attend education events, join a committee. "Find any niche where you can add your skills and abilities to better serve your Realtor community because I can tell you it will serve you better and your clients."
