Silicon Valley REALTORS®® continue presenting grants to non-profit organizations that help homeless and low-income individuals and families in Silicon Valley. On Tuesday, February 9, at a Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS®® Menlo Park/Atherton District meeting in Menlo Park, the REALTORS®® presented $2,000 to East Palo Alto Kids Foundation (EPAK).

 

EPAK is a community-based, all-volunteer organization whose mission is to promote educational opportunities and academic success for students in East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park.

Shannon Greene, who received the grant from SILVAR Charitable Foundation President Lisa Keith, thanked the local trade association's REALTORS® and affiliates for their generous donation. Greene said EPAK provides educator micro grants directly to teachers and sponsored project grants that significantly impact the learning environment for more than just one classroom of students. EPAK supports quality public education in the Ravenswood City School district, serving 4,500 students from 13 schools in East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park.

2010 Charitable Foundation President Lisa Keith presented the grant. Keith also thanked SILVAR members for their support of their communities through the Charitable Foundation. 

 

"We thank our members and friends who, even in this difficult year, have been very generous with their donations," said Keith. "Local nonprofits and schools have been hit exceptionally hard due to reduction in state and local government funding. We need to do our part in helping our youth and families prosper and succeed."

In 2009, the Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation donated $52,250 in grants to non-profit organizations that help homeless and low-income individuals and families in Silicon Valley. The Foundation is a trust which makes grants available to organizations from donations by REALTOR® and affiliate members and friends of the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS®.

Also in 2009, as part of its Scholarship Program, the Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation presented $1,000 to18 graduating seniors from public high schools in the Silicon Valley communities. The program is underway this year.
