2013 SILVAR President Carolyn Miller, Board of Directors Installed

SILVAR's 2013 President Carolyn Miller and Board of Directors were installed last night at the Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club in Menlo Park. California Association of REALTORS® President Don Faught administered the oath of office to this year's   leadership team. Serving as emcee for the evening was SILVAR NAR Director John Tripp.

Miller is a REALTOR® with RE/MAX Real Estate Services in Cupertino. Serving with Miller on SILVAR's leadership team are the following officers: David Tonna, (Alain Pinel Realtors), President-elect; and Phyllis Carmichael, (Coldwell Banker), Treasurer.

SILVAR Board Directors for 2013 are Suzanne Yost (Alain Pinel Realtors), Past President; Gene Lentz, (RE/MAX Distinctive Properties), Region 9 Chair; David Barca (Alain Pinel Realtors), Menlo Park/Atherton District Chair; Karen Trolan (Alain Pinel Realtors), Los Gatos/Saratoga District Chair; Mary Combes (Coldwell Banker), Cupertino/Sunnyvale District Chair; Sara Spang (Keller Williams), Palo Alto District Chair; Bonnie Kehl (Coldwell Banker), Los Altos/Mountain View District Chair; John Tripp (Foundation Trust), NAR Director; Mark Burns (Referral Realty), Eileen Giorgi (Alain Pinel Realtors), Chris Isaacson (Coldwell Banker), Bill Moody (Referral Realty), Directors At-large; and Guillaume Peters (Sunviva Construction), Affiliate Chair.

Miller has been a REALTOR® for over 30 years and recipient of the RE/MAX International Lifetime Achievement Award, RE/MAX International Hall of Fame Award and RE/MAX Platinum Award. She is a strong supporter of organized real estate. As chair of SILVAR's Education Committee in 2011 and 2012, she has championed education for REALTORS® and support for the schools. She is a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS®), Accredited Buyer's Representative (ABR®), Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES®), Military Residential Specialist (MilRES). She is a Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE), and is an Accredited Staging Professional (ASP). She recently completed all the requirements for the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation.

At SILVAR, Miller is a member of the Cupertino/Sunnyvale District Council, PRDS Forms Committee, and Tour Policy and Sign Ordinance Committee. She is also a California Association of REALTORS® Director, a Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation trustee, and has previously served on the board of directors.

Miller's theme for 2013 is "Pulling Together." She wants the real estate community to come together, working and cooperating for mutual success. She invited members to get involved in organized real estate, volunteer in committees, programs and events, and enrich their business knowledge and skills by taking education courses at SILVAR.

Later in the evening, the following 2012 Appreciation awards were 2012 President Suzanne Yost and SILVAR Executive Officer Paul Cardus:

2012 REALTOR® of the Year: Susan Tilling (Coldwell Banker)
Tilling has worked in real estate for over 40 years. She is well-respected among her peers, having devoted countless hours to organized real estate at the local, state and national level. Despite her busy schedule, Tilling has always found time to work for SILVAR, the California Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®. She is a C.A.R. Director for Life, past president of the former Menlo Park/Atherton Board of REALTORS® and was named 1997 REALTOR® of the Year.

2012 Affiliate of the Year: Iris Harrell (Harrell Remodeling)
Yost thanked Harrell for her generous support for SILVAR and its events. Yost said Harrell's motto, "'We never forget it's your home,' exemplifies what we, as REALTORS® live by."
 
Spirit of SILVAR: Robert Reid (Keller Williams) and Dale Anne Collings (Coldwell Banker)
Yost noted both Collings and Reid have raised over $1 million to help individuals and families remain or return to homes and to assist in shelter renovations in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties though the Housing Industry Foundation. "There can be no greater contribution than their helping others find safe and stable housing," said Yost.

President's Award: Jim Pojda (Alain Pinel Realtors)
Pojda, SILVAR's 2012 YPN (Young Professional Network) chair, was presented the special award"for taking on the committee and guiding it to succeed with enthusiasm, good content and community service all in one package."

Yost and Cardus also thanked Jeff Bell (Coldwell Banker), SILVAR's 2010 president, for his work as 2012 C.A.R. Region 9 Chair.
