Members of the Los Altos/Mountain View District cheered when they learned they raised $4,650 for the Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation at their second annual pumpkin auction last Friday. Money raised by the District topped last year's earnings of $3,525, thanks to the generous participation of members and brokers, and gentle and humorous coaxing from District Co-chair Joe Brown, who served again as this year's auctioneer.
Before the items were auctioned off, each donor introduced their item. Some speakers entertained the audience by sharing amusing anecdotes.
Only seven items were auctioned off this year, but the items contained hefty prizes. The first item auctioned, a GoPro and HomeFolio basket, a $1,700 value donated by Alain Pinel Realtors, went for $1,000. That started the generous bidding for "Treats Around the Town," which included gift certificates to local restaurants ($650 value) from Campi Properties; an "Outer Space" pumpkin display, donated by Intero Real Estate Services and declared by Intero COO John Thompson as "priceless,"; a $100 inspection gift certificate from Property Inspection Service; a Witch Display, which included bottles of wine from Sereno Group; and a pumpkin display with a gift certificate from TourFactory. "Around the World," which included wine, a $200 gift certificate for Southwest Airline tickets, gift certificates for golf at the Palo Alto golf course, and gift certificates for a hot air balloon ride ($1,650 value), donated by Coldwell Banker, raised the most money - $1,400. The event also received cash donations from JoAnn Fishpaw and Ellen Barton.
The District also presented the following awards, thanking donors for their contributions: Top Company Pumpkin: "Around the World," Coldwell Banker; Best Theme Pumpkin: "Treats Around the Town," Campi Properties; Most Creative Pumpkin: "Outer Space," Intero Real Estate Services.
Thank you to Nancy Domich and SILVAR president David Tonna for judging the items and presenting the awards, and District Affiliate Chair John Woodfin and District Co-chairs Joe Brown and Bonnie Kehl for coming through with another successful pumpkin auction this year!
