Approximately 65 members attended the annual Los Altos/Mountain View District Holiday Breakfast held at the Los Altos Golf & Country Club this morning. Members celebrated accomplishments of the year and thanked volunteers and sponsors who worked hard to bring the tour meetings, programs and events to members in 2016.
District Chair Katherine Frey thanked this year's District Council, which includes Dennis Bower, Nancy Carlson, Trish Eby, Judy Jen, Suzanne O'Brien, Bryan Robertson, Susan Sweeley, Kathryn Tomaino, Denise Welsh, Barbara Williams and John Woodfin.
Frey also thanked the tour meeting sponsors, including the brokers of the District and affiliate members Darrell Monda (TourFactory), Peter Brewer (Law Offices of Peter N. Brewer), John Woodfin (EverBank), Jim Harrison (MLSListings Inc.), and Tom Anderson (Clutterboy). Anderson sponsored this morning's holiday breakfast and, as a special treat, invited everyone to take the holiday decorations on each table.
Notable accomplishments this year were the District's annual pumpkin auction, which raised $4,750 for the Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation, and the spring and fall legal updates, which had excellent attendance and raised $1,817 for Community Services Agency.
SILVAR 2016 President Karen Trolan likewise thanked the District members for a successful year. Trolan recognized SILVAR treasurer Phyllis Carmichael; 2016 District Chair Katherine Frey; incoming District chair and SILVAR Tour Policy Chair Kathryn Tomaino; and Trolan's successor, Denise Welsh, who will be installed as 2017 SILVAR President on January 19.
The Mountain View Graham Middle School choir returned this year and entertained members with a mix of holiday songs and popular music.
A highlight of this morning's event was the presentation of "The John Tripp-Silicon Valley REALTORS® Veterans Scholarship Endowment" to officials from the Foothill-De Anza Colleges Foundation. (See more on this in SILVAR's Friday Facts e-newsletter)
