SILVAR Past President Joanne Fraser awarded the Charitable Foundation scholarship award to Matvey Volkov, a graduating senior from Los Altos High School, during the school's senior awards night.
SILVAR members have presented the 2022 Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation scholarship awards to 18 graduating seniors from area public high schools at their respective school's senior awards ceremony. The Charitable Foundation has awarded $1,500 scholarships to each recipient to hep finance their 2022-2023 college freshman year.
The scholarship awards are made possible by donations from REALTOR® and affiliate members of SILVAR. Now in its 23rd year, the Charitable Foundation has presented $436,500 in scholarships to graduating seniors from high schools located in the communities served by SILVAR members.
"SILVAR established this scholarship program as part of a long-term effort to support our communities and schools, and to make a small investment in our collective future - our youth. The program also affords us the opportunity to thank the teachers, administrators and school board members who make our schools special," says Nina Yamaguchi, scholarship chair.
The Charitable Foundation's scholars program recognizes students who have exemplified outstanding achievements in academics, extracurricular/employment activities and community involvement. The selection committee includes representatives from the local business community, area high schools, area colleges and SILVAR.
"Members' $52 and up contributions to the Silicon REALTORS® Charitable Foundation makes it possible for us to award these scholarships, as well as other grants to non-profit groups that serve individuals and families in need in communities where we live and work," says Eileen Giorgi, Silicon REALTORS® Charitable Foundation president.
