Mark Cernan and Jimmy Kang get ready to face their opponents.

Yesterday the Palo Alto and Menlo Park-Atherton Districts hosted their first Pickleball Tournament at Nealon Park. Participants with skill levels in the sport ranging from advanced to beginners, hit the courts for healthy competitive fun.

"Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America, and we can see why. It's easy to learn, it's a low-impact exercise, and allows plenty of room to socialize while playing!" said Stacey Woods, chair of the Palo Alto District Council. "Stay tuned for details on the next tournament."

"It was a great outing for the first time ever, SILVAR Palo Alto, Menlo Park-Atherton's Pickle Ball experience. We had a few good players that knew the game, and a number of attendees that were there for the first time. Everyone agreed that we should do it again next year," said Darrell Monda, with TourFactory Bay Area, who helped promote the tournament.

The Districts thank Mark Cernan for helping coordinate the players.
