SILVAR Board Director Suzanne Yost is presented with this year's California Distinguished REALTOR® Award.
The California Association of REALTORS® REimagine! Conference & Expo was held September 19-21 at the Anaheim Convention Center, packed with programs that shared insightful strategies and tips for thriving in any market. Expert-led discussions and actionable takeaways on AI, social media, navigating the challenging market and more were held throughout the three-day event.
SILVAR leadership and C.A.R. Region 9 Directors were in Anaheim all week attending the C.A.R. Fall Business Meetings. The directors were assigned meetings each day and at the end of the day met at caucus to report on what had transpired at their respective meetings.
A highlight of the conference happened when at the C.A.R. Board of Directors meeting yesterday, SILVAR Board Director Suzanne Yost was presented the California Distinguished REALTOR® Award, the highest recognition that a C.A.R. member can receive. Only one member is chosen to receive the Distinguished REALTOR® award each year. The award is based on service to the real estate industry and the community.
Another conference highlight was the "2024 Housing Forecast" lunch when C.A.R. Chief Economist Jordan Levin shared valuable data that could provide insight into today's pressing housing issues. Among the many takeaways, Levine noted the following current market condition strengths: home prices are rising, the market is not crashing, the economy continues to expand, homeownership is still desired and valued by Americans. Among current market weaknesses are affordability and homeownership shrinking, population decrease due to remote work, and interest rates are expected to remain elevated.
Overall, Levine is optimistic. He expects market conditions and the lending environment to improve as mortgage interest rates trend downward in 2024.
