SILVAR congratulated 2024 Korean American Association of REALTORS® and Lenders of Northern California (KARL) President Jackie Kim and the 2024 KARL Board of Directors at their installation on Dec. 7 at the Crowne Plaza in Foster City. SILVAR President Jim Hamilton and Global Business Council Chair Jimmy Kang represented the local trade association at the event. Jim Park, AREAA National Chairman Emeritus, administered the oath of office to Kim and the 2024 KARL board directors. KARL and AREAA have a special relationship dating back to the formation of both associations.
Kim is a REALTOR® and broker owner of Millenium Realty. She has 13 years of real estate industry experience under her belt, including four years managing her real estate brokerage company. She was the first Korean American President of the AREAA San Francisco-Peninsula chapter and has played a significant role in helping Korean Americans advance into mainstream communities and in bringing Silicon Valley real estate associations together. As president of the AREAA San Francisco Peninsula chapter, Kim started a scholarship program. She has brought the program to KARL, and it has received a great response from members.
Joining Kim as part of the 2024 KARL leadership group are Jayn Hong (Sequoia Real Estate), vice president; Soo Park (MOA Financial Group), treasurer; Sylvia Lee (Intero Real Estate), Membership Director; John Pak (Cross Country Mortgage), Advisor; Dave Kim (J.P. Allen Okamoto, founding director and Director Emeritus of AREAA, highly praised Kim for her efforts at AREAA and KARL. He noted that Kim has played a primary role in bringing Korean Americans closer to other Asians in the community.
Congratulating Kim and the 2024 KARL leadership, Hamilton said that the housing market has been challenging in the past year, yet he is hopeful things will turn around for the better once mortgage interest rates come down. "Keep your resolve. We're working together. We're not just separate groups. We're all together in this – REALTORS®, lenders, and all other real estate professionals in our efforts to make homeownership a reality for all."
In her message to members and guests, Kim said when she came to America 27 years ago, she was no different than others hoping to have a home. "My personal interest is clear, to support the Korean American community in achieving homeownership and realizing the American dream. This is a collective effort, and I am sincerely grateful for the support of my AREAA family," she said.
Kim looks forward to more events that will bring KARL members together and for the continued advocacy for homeownership. "We are representative of a larger cause. I urge you all to support KARL and join us on our journey."
