The Madrigal Singers sang at the Palo Alto District's holiday celebration.

SILVAR's Palo Alto District celebrated the holidays and thanked this year's volunteers for their hard work all year. 2009 District Chair John St. Clair III thanked members for their support and cooperation.

"It wouldn't have been a successful year without the help of all of you!" said St. Clair.

The District honored the Tour Meeting Work Group for its diligent work in restructuring the Palo Alto District tour meeting. Members included Nancy MacLeod, Dante Drummond, Caroline Wolf, Bob Stelzer, John Carman and Bob Gerlach. The District recognized Leon Leong and Dan Dykwel for their commitment and dedication to the community of Palo Alto and the Palo Alto REALTORS® community.

Special awards were presented to this year's District Council members: Dante Drummond, Lydia Kou, Nancy MacLeod, Nadr Essabhoy, Michael Hall, Leon Leong, Dan Dykwel, Judy Ellis, Tobi Baldwin, Valerie Smith, Bob Gerlach, Kellie Morlock and Candice Kistner.

St. Clair highlighted the work of each committee and the projects they tackled, noting the success of the Local Government Relations Committee in helping defeat the Palo Alto business tax proposal, the REALTOR® Service Volunteer Program (RSVP), the Special Events Mixer on the first Thursday of each month, the Partners in Education (PiE) Campaign, and the tour meetings, which served to educate and enlighten members about different issues.
St. Clair presented the Committee Chair of the Year award to Bob Gerlach, who brought together the brokers/managers to share information which benefited members. They discussed topics like market conditions and issues, and how to improve the tour meeting. St. Clair said Gerlach was also instrumental in working to restructure the tour meeting.

Lydia Kou received the District's Community Outreach award for her work with RSVP and helping Palo Alto seniors and adults with disabilities. Tobi Baldwin received the Most Inspirational award for continuing to volunteer her time to help the real estate community despite many personal issues. Kellie Morlock, the District's affiliate chair, presented the District's Affiliate of the Year award to Jeri Fink, for her strong volunteerism all year.

SILVAR President Julia Truesdale Keady then recognized St. Clair as the District's REALTOR® of the Year. It's an award he truly deserves due to his "willingness to help others all the time, his vision, his dedication," Keady said.

Entertainment followed the awards presentation, with Morlock singing "12 Days of Escrow" and a beautiful rendition of songs by the Madrigal Singers.
