The holiday spirit of giving has begun in Silicon Valley, ushered in by SILVAR's Los Gatos//Saratoga District's Annual Pumpkin Auction on Wednesday. Thanks to generous donations of auction items by individuals and companies, this year's event raised $3,800 for the Eastfield Ming Quong(EMQ) Los Gatos, which helps children in crisis and their families. The agency provides innovative mental health treatment, foster care and social services to help families recover from trauma, abuse and addiction, and rebuild their lives.

"It's all for the children," California Association of REALTORS® Past President and SILVAR member Jim Hamilton told SILVAR members gathered at Willow Street Wood-fired Pizza in Los Gatos. "Think of them, and give."

Hamilton was persuasive and members bid generously. The beautiful items and arrangements, many of which included gift certificates to restaurants, spa treatments and other treats were donated by individuals and a number of real estate and title companies. Members displayed their talents, too, by including homemade baked goods, like a bundt cake baked by Laura Peterson of State Farm Insurance, and handmade arrangements, such as the beautifully lighted fall arrangement made by Jo Preston of Asante Real Estate, and Mr. Potato Head, which, together with a $50 certificate to Nordstrom's, was donated by Mike Lomonaco. The big item, an arrangement which contained two beautiful glass pumpkins, was donated by Intero Real Estate Services. Sharon Butler of The Loan Source and Neil Reid of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage won the bid for $700!

In addition to those mentioned above, many thanks to the following for their generous support and donations: JCP Reports, Chicago Title Company, Old Republic Title, Willow Street Wood-Fired Pizza, Alain Pinel Realtors, Sereno Group, Coldwell Banker, Suzanne Yost and Paul Cardus.
