SILVAR Members Celebrate, Learn about Speed Networking at First YPN Event
More than 60 SILVAR members attended Silicon Valley YPN's first event held at Rosie McCann's – Santana Row last Thursday. The group celebrated St. Patrick's Day with drinks, eats and great camaraderie.
At the event, networking guru Kristy Rogers delivered a presentation on "Speed Networking." Rogers gave members tips on good ways to start a conversation, and then had members interact with one another by dividing them into groups, so they could learn more about each other.
Feedback from this event was great, according to YPN chair Jim Pojda and vice chair Peter Kitch. They said the committee will be meeting at the end of the month to continue planning for the year.

What is YPN?
YPN is the Young Professionals Network of REALTORS®.
What is the age limit to participate?
YPN is a state of mind, we encourage REALTORS® of all ages to participate to share ideas and learn more about technology and cutting edge innovations. The young professionals have a lot to gain from our seasoned agents in the field. Furthermore, the seasoned agents can gain valuable insight from the younger generation of high-tech agents as well – this combination is a win-win for everyone.
Why would I want to network with other local REALTORS®?
Your network and relationships with other REALTORS® in the field is imperative while negotiating contracts for your clients. You have a competitive edge if you know the listing agent while you are negotiating on behalf of your buyers and especially if your reputation in the marketplace is one of integrity and someone who consistently pre-approves buyers before showing them a variety of homes. Additionally, if you are a listing agent, buyers' agents are more inclined to write offers on your listings if they know and are comfortable with you as a person. With that said, this is why REALTOR® networking events and touring still provide excellent venues to strengthen your reputation in the marketplace while helping your clients achieve success.
