SILVAR Earns Fifth NAR Platinum Award for Global Achievement
SILVAR Executive Officer Paul Cardus, President Denise Welsh, Public Affairs & Communications Director Rose Meily and President-elect Bill Moody received the Platinum Award for Global Achievement for SILVAR's Global Business Council.

Cupertino, Calif. - For the fifth straight year, the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR) has earned the National Association of REALTORS® Platinum Award for Global Achievement. The platinum award is the highest distinction presented by NAR to an association for having demonstrated through its global business council exceptional commitment to building member awareness of global and multicultural business opportunities in their local markets.
SILVAR, a professional trade organization representing over 5,000 REALTORS® and affiliate members engaged in the real estate business on the Peninsula and in the South Bay, is the only association in Northern California to achieve platinum council status since the program's inception in 2011.NAR stated SILVAR's global council "has shown the highest level of service to its global members by consistently providing them with the tools they need to handle international real estate in addition to connecting your council to the global community in your area."

The benchmarks for success over the past five years have been the commitment of SILVAR to think globally and provide our members with the proper tools that will help them expand and excel in their business here and abroad," said SILVAR Executive Officer Paul Cardus.
Under the leadership of 2017 SILVAR Global Business Council Chair Tess Crescini, a broker with Heritage Homes & Investments, the association's global business council conducted a number of activities and education programs to raise members' awareness of global business in their local market, including programs on immigration and types of visas for foreign buyers and investors, a leadership program and workshop, NAR's At Home with Diversity certification course, and the association's sixth Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) Institute.
SILVAR partners with other real estate associations throughout the year to promote awareness and education in global real estate. SILVAR recently hosted a trade mission composed of young professionals from Secovi, an organization composed of real estate agents, builders, developers and other professionals engaged in the real estate business in Brazil. SILVAR is currently helping the Filipino American Real Estate Professional Association Silicon Valley chapter (FAREPA SV) coordinate a trade mission to the Philippines in 2018.
SILVAR is one of a select few Platinum Councils in the country in 2017. Reaching the Platinum award level places SILVAR in the top 11 percent of councils operating nationwide. The prestigious award was presented to the local trade association at a special international dinner during the Nov. 3-6 NAR Realtors Conference and EXPO in Chicago.
Also recognized at the NAR Conference were David Wyant and Evangeline "Vangie" Yia. Wyant received the award for 2017 NAR International Instructor of the Year. Wyant has taught the CIPS Institute at SILVAR six times and all over the U.S. and in 14 countries. This is the third time Wyant received the recognition.
Yia, who is director and vice president of international affairs for the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders' Associations Inc. (CREBA), was named NAR International REALTOR® of the Year. SILVAR is NAR's Ambassador to the Philippines and CREBA is its partner association there.
