Cupertino, CA - Effective today, Tuesday, March 17, 2020, all individuals living in the counties of San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Mateo, Marin, Contra Costa and Alameda are ordered to shelter at their place of residence, except those who must leave to perform essential services. This order will stay in place until April 7. Abiding by this order, the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® office in Cupertino will be closed starting today until April 7. As our staff works remotely, SILVAR will endeavor to serve our members as best we can. Members can email membership@silvar.org if you have additional questions.
"Pursuant to the March 16th Directive to Shelter in Place orders, it is SILVAR's understanding that SILVAR Broker tours, Open Houses and other property showings should be temporarily suspended. The compilation and distribution of SILVAR Broker tour sheets will thus be paused until the Order to Shelter in Place is lifted," said SILVAR Executive Officer Paul Cardus, said in a statement. "We advise all members to heed the Shelter in Place order and the direction of your local, state and national government entities regarding the COVID-19 outbreak."
Cardus added, "We strongly recommend that REALTORS® consider other alternatives to Broker Tours and Open Houses. First and foremost, please consider the health and well-being of your clients, your fellow agents, and the public before holding a Broker Tour or Open House. We also suggest you seek the advice of your broker, have the discussion with your clients on how to market their property at this time in everyone's best interest in the healthiest of ways."
Members are asked to refer to the orders from the Santa Clara and San Mateo County Public Health Departments for more information, including what are essential services and what are not.
