Cupertino, CA - Members of the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR) are currently preparing for two major events that will help raise funds for local communities. It is through these major events, in addition to donations received from members, that local Realtors who help individuals and families buy homes and sell their homes are able to give back to their communities.
The Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS®' Ninth Annual Charity Foundation Golf Tournament will be held Monday, Sept. 24, at the Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club, 3000 Alexis Drive, Palo Alto. The event is open to members and non-members of the local Realtor association. The public is invited to spend the entire day enjoying golfing, lunch, a banquet dinner, awards, raffle and live and silent auctions. The fun-filled day begins with a Shotgun Start (Scramble Format) at 11:30 a.m. A no host cocktail reception will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner at 6 p.m. and awards ceremony and auction. Red Hawk Real Estate of Portola Valley is the event's Hole-in-One sponsor.
Cost for participating in the event is $275 per participant, which includes golf, lunch, the awards ceremony, banquet dinner and auction. Cost is $60 per person for dinner-only guests. Proceeds from the golf tournament will go to the Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation, a trust which makes grants available to a number of non-profit organizations that help homeless and low-income individuals and families in Silicon Valley.
Last year, the Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation donated a total of $91,000 to different non-profit organizations. Of total donations for 2006, $18,000 went to the Charitable Foundation's scholarship program, which recognizes outstanding graduating seniors from schools in the Silicon Valley communities. In 2006, and again in 2007, 18 high school seniors were presented each with $1,000 scholarships upon graduation.
In addition to donations through SILVAR's Charitable Foundation, last year, Silicon Valley Realtors and affiliates raised $75,000 for the Housing Industry Foundation, from the association's annual Home for the Holidays charity event. The Housing Industry Foundation is a non-profit charity which helps individuals and families in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties either remain in, or return to stable housing.
Silicon Valley Realtors support the Housing Industry Foundation through Home for the Holidays, their association's largest charitable event of the year. This year, the 10th annual Home for the Holidays will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., at The Avalon in Santa Clara. Coldwell Banker is the major sponsor for this event. The public is also invited to attend Home for the Holidays. The event ushers in the holiday season, featuring a Halloween theme and an evening that includes a gourmet buffet, live and silent auctions, a raffle, live music and dancing.
SILVAR Realtors and affiliates are committed to the welfare and prosperity of the communities where they live and work. Through their charitable contributions and member involvement, members of the local trade association strive to help create more productive and enriched communities.
