Cupertino, CA - The Bay Area REALTOR® Leadership Academy (BARLA), an alliance of three REALTOR® Associations, is seeking REALTORS® who are interested in attending a leadership training program beginning January 2010. This new leadership program is designed to identify, train and develop existing and emerging leaders to serve and advance organized real estate. Participants will learn to polish their strengths and learn new skills that will prove useful in all aspects of life and career.
BARLA was formed early in 2009 by an Advisory Committee consisting of members of the Silicon Valley, San Mateo County and Santa Clara County Associations of REALTORS®. Members of the Advisory Committee are David Tonna (Chair), Julia Truesdale Keady, Olivia Edwards, Quincy Virgilio, James Dill, Suzanne Yost, Barbara Lymberis, Debbie Sharp, Mary Ann Teixeira and Philip Tedesco.
The inaugural academy is scheduled to begin on January 14, 2010 with full day sessions held monthly for nine months on the second Thursday of each month. Attendees will need to complete all sessions in order to graduate with their class.
Venue for each session will be at different locations, depending on each session's subject. The curriculum will feature theme-oriented sessions which will give participants an overview of organized real estate's impact on local, state and federal issues, candidates, non-profits and communities, in general. The sessions will feature workshops and guest speakers from community groups and local, state and federal organizations involved in real estate.
Applications are being accepted from REALTOR® members of the participating associations until August 31, 2009. Up to 27 qualified applicants will be selected by the Advisory Committee by September 30, 2009. The cost of the leadership program is $750, which is due upon acceptance.
