Peninsula Realtors® Support Hispanic Home Buyer Outreach
Sponsors of CASA Home Buyer Expo at San Mateo County Expo Center
The San Mateo County Association of Realtors (SAMCAR) and the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors (SILVAR) are among the main supporters of CASA Home Buyer Expo, a community outreach effort of Latino non-profit organizations on Sunday, November 6, 2005 at the San Mateo County Expo Center from 11:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
The event is organized by the San Francisco and San Mateo Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, The Chicana Latina Foundation, The National Latino Community Housing Development Corporation and The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals of Santa Clara, San Francisco and Silicon Valley. It provides a free educational opportunity targeted at Hispanic home buyers. Participants are invited to form a personal team of certified real estate practitioners who will help them to develop a personal homeownership plan.
"The San Mateo County Association of Realtors and the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors are strong supporters of homeownership opportunities for all, and are proud to help sponsor this event," said Janet Case, executive officer of the two organizations. Together, the two trade associations of the real estate industry on the Peninsula represent over 8,000 Realtors and affiliated professionals.
The event will also introduce the Casa Home Buyer Club, a community outreach program. A recent study conducted by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) shows that if the current Latino population were to reach the level of ownership of their non-Latino counterparts in the United States, homeownership rates would jump from the current 8 million to 12.5 million. There are currently 1.4 million Latino residents in the Bay Area, representing 21 percent of the population.
The Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR) is a professional trade organization representing over 4,000 REALTORS® and Affiliate members engaged in the real estate business on the Peninsula and in the South Bay. SILVAR promotes the highest ethical standards of real estate practice, serves as an advocate for homeownership and homeowners, and represents the interests of property owners in Silicon Valley.
