Bay Area REALTORS® continue to seek ways to better serve their clients, especially with current changes in today’s real estate market. The Second Annual Bay Area Multicultural Real Estate Summit will bring together representatives of 17 associations on Friday, Sept. 26, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Union City. The theme of this year’s multicultural initiative is “Empowering the Real Estate Professional.”

Cupertino, CA - The Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation, the charitable arm of the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR), presented scholarship awards to 18 graduating seniors from public high schools in Silicon Valley. Each student received a $1,000 scholarship during their respective school’s awards ceremony at the close of the 2007-08 school year.

Agreement marks first Trulia relationship with an Association of REALTORS®

Cupertino, CA – The Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS®, a professional trade organization representing over 4,000 REALTORS® and Affiliate members working on the San Francisco Peninsula and in the South Bay, today announced a partnership with Trulia, Inc. (www.trulia.com), the fastest-growing U.S. real estate Web site.

As part of the marketing agreement, SILVAR is encouraging all members to submit their listings to Trulia at no cost, making them available to 4.5 million home buyers and sellers searching on Trulia for real estate information. SILVAR is also launching a public facing search site at www.silvar.org, which is powered by the Trulia Publisher Platform. This platform provides SILVAR a way to generate revenue through online ad sales and offers consumers access to Trulia’s national database of over 2.5 million residential real estate listings.

In addition to powering SILVAR’s first public-facing search site, Trulia will begin offering valuable educational opportunities to all SILVAR members. A series of both real-time and downloadable online classes are planned to share best practices and trends in online marketing.

The Trulia Publisher Platform already powers online real estate searches for several online media sites, including Kiplinger, Village Voice Media, ResidentialNYC.com and AmericanTowns, as well as other real estate Web sites and blogs. Trulia also powers online real estate content for companies, including CNN, US News & World Report and Parade magazine. Several MLSs, including MLSLI and MLSPIN, have partnered with Trulia to market their listings online, however, the SILVAR relationship marks the first of its kind with a REALTOR® trade organization.

Cupertino, CA - During the month of February, the Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation awarded $12,650 in grants to various nonprofit organizations that help the needy and underprivileged in Palo Alto and the surrounding areas. The grants were presented by Realtors from the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR) to the organizations at the Realtor group’s Palo Alto District Realtor weekly tour meetings.

Deadline for seniors to request free assistance is March 15.

Cupertino, CA - Realtors and affiliates are once again embarking on the annual Realtor Service Volunteer Program (RSVP), which provides seniors and homebound residents who live on the Peninsula or in the South Bay free assistance with household tasks which they cannot perform due to physical or financial constraints. RSVP week is set for May 5-10. The deadline for seniors to request assistance is Saturday, March 15.
