SILICON VALLEY REALTORS® PARTNER WITH HOUSING TRUST SILICON VALLEY FOR FIRST-TIME HOMEBUYER PROGRAM

Cupertino, Calif. - In one of the toughest markets for first-time homebuyers in years, the Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® (SCCAOR) and the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR) are partnering with the Housing Trust Silicon Valley to provide a $100,000 grant that will help first-time homebuyers with closings costs. With homeownership rates in 2015 at a 30-year low at 50.7 percent in the San Jose Metro Area, this program is meant to help hardworking families establish themselves firmly in the community through the dream of homeownership.

Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation Announces 2017 Scholarship Recipients

Cupertino, CA - The Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation, the charitable arm of the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR), presented scholarship awards to 18 graduating seniors from public high schools in Silicon Valley at the end of the 2016-2017 school year. Each student received a $1,000 scholarship.

April is Fair Housing Month: Fair Housing Equals Opportunity

Cupertino, CA - Each year in April, REALTORS® join the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and rest of the nation in recognizing April as Fair Housing Month. On April 11, 1968, 49 years ago, President Lyndon Johnson signed the landmark U.S. Fair Housing Act, Title VII of the Civil Right Act of 1968, which strives to ensure equal housing opportunity for all and prohibits housing discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, and family status. In 2012, HUD published new regulations to ensure that its core housing programs are open to all eligible persons, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
