The Los Altos Mountain View District celebrated the holidays with a special breakfast at the Los Altos Country Club early this month. 2012 District Chair Denise Welsh thanked members for participating in District tour meetings and activities this year. On behalf of the District's members and District Council, 2013 District Chair Bonnie Kehl also thanked Welsh for her hard work throughout the year. Welsh has been the Los Altos/Mountain View District Chair for the past two years.

The Los Gatos/Saratoga District ushered in a new year with the longtime tradition of passing of the gavel to the new district chair at the La Rinconada Country Club, Los Gatos last Thursday. 2013 District Chair Cassie Maas thanked members for their participation this year. She especially thanked members of this year's Los Gatos/Saratoga District Council: Dennis Byron, Kevin Cole, Doug Evans, Mary Kay Groth, Ian Macrae, David Tonna, John Tripp, Mark Von Kaenel and Darrell Monda. Maas then passed the gavel on to 2013 Los Gatos/Saratoga District Chair Karen Trolan.

Members of SILVAR's Palo Alto District celebrated the holidays and the end of the 2012 term last Friday with a special breakfast and entertainment by professional pianist/composer Benjamin Belew and Kyoko Shimozaki, soprano singer with the Bay Area Opera.

The Menlo Park/Atherton District had a holiday celebration at the Left Bank in Menlo Park on Tuesday, November 27. Approximately 60 people attended the special event.

Thirty-four real estate professionals attended the National Association of REALTORS® Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) Institute offered at SILVAR on November 26-30. Attendees included members from SILVAR and other REALTOR® associations from around the Bay Area, as far east as North Carolina and as far south as San Clemente in Southern California.

On Wednesday night, Palo Alto District's REALTORS® and affiliates celebrated their annual Fall Fling. They networked and learned about how each district member can participate in district programs and events, and danced the night away. The event also recognized the District's members who volunteered their time for programs and events during the year. Special prizes were also given away.

Over 300 members were greeted at this year's annual general membership meeting with news that SILVAR continues to remain solvent, membership remains stable, and dues will not increase in 2013. A new discount member benefit plan was also introduced providing members more educational opportunities.

Over 30 SILVAR members attended “Global is Good Business,” a heritage potluck promoting SILVAR's global business initiative on Monday. The event featured an array of traditional California and ethnic dishes, social networking, and an education segment in which real estate professionals with international experience spoke briefly about the importance of doing business globally.
