Yesterday's "Let's Go Global and Explore Canada!" a program offered by the SILVAR Global Business Council, had real estate professionals from across the U.S. and Asia, including members of the Chamber of Real Estate & Builders Association in the Philippines, SILVAR's Cooperating Association in the Philippines. All were interested to learn more about Canadian real estate from Tricia Lehane, a REALTOR® with RE/MAX Excalibur in Scottsdale, Arizona, who serves on the National Association of REALTORS® Global Business and Alliance Committee and Global Committee of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA). Tuning in virtually from Ontario, Canada were Pauline Aunger, 2015 President of the CREA and 2009 President of the Ontario Real Estate Association, and Sharon von Schoenberg, CREA product manager for Global Services.

SILVAR members and guests from around the country on Wednesday learned about doing business globally from National Association of REALTORS® Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) instructor Christel Silver at the Global Business Council virtual presentation, "Go Global & Explore Germany." Silver, who is a Florida REALTOR®, is also NAR's Global Ambassador to Germany and Austria.

Three real estate brokers from China, Japan and the Philippines shared the impact of COVID-19 on their real estate markets and prospects for the future at a Silicon Valley Association of Realtors global virtual event. They included Gene Shi, president of International Operations for Homelink (Linajia Real Estate Agency Co., Ltd.); Manabu Suzuki, vice president and co-founder of International Property Agent (IPA) Co. Ltd. in Tokyo, Japan; and Andy Mañalac, chair and co-founder of Havitas Developments Corporation in the Philippines. Michi Olson, Dean of Resources and Global Connections LeadingRE, served as moderator.

SILVAR Global Business Council's first virtual program on "Loan Program Changes During COVID-19" held this week was packed with information provided by Lisa Wendl, a mortgage broker with General Mortgage Capital Corp. Wendl discussed the impact of COVID-19 on credit availability and on loan programs for local and foreign buyers.

The Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR) 2020 leadership team was installed last night at the Los Altos Golf & Country Club. California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) 2020 President Jeanne Radsick administered the oath of office to 2020 SILVAR President Mary Kay Groth and SILVAR's 2020 officers and board directors. Chris Trapani, Sereno Group co-founder, served as master of ceremonies. Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation President Eileen Giorgi led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance, and 2012 President Suzanne Yost delivered the Inspiration Message.
