Silicon Valley's real estate community congratulated the Chinese American Real Estate Association (CAREA)'s 2015/2016 leadership team at its December 4 installation dinner held at Dynasty Seafood Restaurant in Cupertino. SILVAR President-elect Karen Trolan installed 2015/2016 CAREA President Coco Tan and CAREA's 2015/2016 officers and board of directors.

Over 100 SILVAR members from the Los Altos/Mountain View District attended a special breakfast held at Los Altos Golf & Country Club last Friday, where they celebrated the holidays and accomplishments of the year.

Over 70 members and guests attended this year's Los Gatos/Saratoga District Holiday reception and Installation of 2016 District Chair Suzanne Yost. The event held at the La Rinconada Country Club in Los Gatos was a great opportunity for everyone to celebrate the end of a successful year and enjoy the holiday season among friends and colleagues, with great music, food and drinks.

"Doing Business in the Philippines," hosted by the SILVAR Global Business Council on November 20, attracted more than 40 members and guests. The Philippines is Asia's second fastest growing economy today and the business of real estate there is booming, according to Philippine-based real estate agents.

The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) recognized SILVAR's hard work and dedication to raising members' awareness of global business at the International Night Out Dinner during the November 13-16 NAR REALTORS® Conference and Expo in San Diego. For the third year in a row, SILVAR was presented the NAR Platinum Award for Global Achievement. The platinum award is the highest distinction presented by NAR to an association for having demonstrated through its Global Business Council exceptional commitment to building members' awareness of the global and multicultural business opportunities in their local markets.

Over 100 members attended SILVAR Palo Alto District's Annual Fall Fling at the Palo Alto Masonic Lodge Wednesday night. This year's event had a Halloween theme, with members dressed in costume and a booth for fun photos.

Los Altos/Mountain View District’s third annual pumpkin auction was very successful last Friday. With only six items, the District was able to raise $3,060. The proceeds will go to the Silicon Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation.

Although there were fewer items to auction off this year, they are grand. Each donor introduced their pumpkin. The items and donors were

Elaborate “Seussville” themed pumpkin village from Intero Real Estate Services Los Altos, which won “Best Theme”; “Huge Succulent Garden on a Cinderella Pumpkin,” which included a $100 gift card from Nordstrom, from Campi Properties; a beautifully decorated centerpiece pumpkin arranged by Bloomster’s from Sereno Group; “By the Sea” pumpkin with a $200 gift certificate to the Sardine Factory and Monterey Bay Aquarium tickets from Catarra Real Estate; a Half Moon Bay pumpkin and Pumpkin Witch decoration from Coldwell Banker - Half Moon Bay, and “Black Cat with Nine Lives,” containing nine prizes, including an Apple watch, donated by Alain Pinel Realtors - Los Altos. The latter won the “Best Company Pumpkin” award and also received the highest bid, $1,400 from Joe Han, managing broker with Keller Williams Realty – Cupertino.

The District thanks all members who participated in the fun event, including Owen Halliday, who served as auctioneer, and organizers SILVAR affiliates John Woodfin, Nancy Domich and District Chair Katherine Frey.
