At the Los Gatos/Saratoga District Gala held December 19 at La Rinconada Country Club, Los Gatos, members celebrated a successful year and installed their 2014 chair and council. As is customary of the District, past district chairs in attendance passed the gavel on to the new district chair, Mark Von Kaenel, managing broker of Keller Williams Los Gatos Estates.

SILVAR's Los Altos/Mountain View District celebrated the holidays with a special breakfast at the Los Altos Golf & Country Club. 2013 District Chair Bonnie Kehl thanked everyone for coming to the special event and for supporting the District's tour meetings and programs all year.

About 70 members of the Menlo Park/Atherton District celebrated the holidays and an end to a successful year at LB Steak in Menlo Park on Wednesday night. Members enjoyed a variety of hors d'oeuvres, wine and good company.

SILVAR member Mimi Wang was installed as 2014 president of the Women's Council of REALTORS® Santa Clara Valley Chapter on Wednesday at the Dynasty Restaurant in Cupertino. Wang is a REALTOR® with Century 21 M& M and Associates in Cupertino.

At the 2013 National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Conference & Expo last week, NAR recognized SILVAR with a platinum award for its 2013 Global Business Council Achievement Program. SILVAR was one of a number of groups to be honored as Silver, Gold, and Platinum Councils. Of the over 100 existing global business councils, only five were awarded Platinum Council status, the program's highest distinction, for having demonstrated exceptional commitment to building members' awareness of the global and multicultural business opportunities in their local markets.

Wednesday night saw members of the Palo Alto District celebrate their annual Fall Fling, the time the District recognizes members who volunteered their time for programs and events during the year. The 2014 District Council members were also introduced and members were encouraged to sign up for a committee and continue their involvement next year.

California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) Region 9 Directors from the Cupertino/Sunnyvale District updated members on the C.A.R. Business Meetings held in Long Beach early this month. Reporting were SILVAR President Carolyn Miller, Directors Mark Burns, Bill Moody and Jeff Bell.
